Whispers In Verse

Not all blank pages are made to forget

If you like poetry or like to wrap words and soak in their warmth, this section is for you.

Marginal

Fly Fly, Soar the Sky

Fall down, never drown

Rise above, give it a try

Thorns or roses wear a crown

Run Run, rabbit run

Run fast, ace the race

Eat your greens, don’t hop

You’ll be eaten if you stop

Learn it all, do it all

Rest not, for you will fall

It’s a thing, pretty marginal

Go the extra mile, be phenomenal

Who will take you? Who will try?

Who will love you? Who will cry?

Birds can fly but rabbits not

Make sure you never shed a teardrop.

— Zaigam Akhtar

Trials and Tribulations

When you’ve lost to your temptations

Make allowance for forgiveness or at least you can try

When you’ve had your trials and tribulations

Remember that you can scream but you cannot cry

And when you dream, dream alone,

For you must carry that weight on your own.

When you’ve built it all from the ground up

Pray not with sages and saints

When it all crumbles and your faith shakes up

Take heart man, for nothing besides remains

And when you create - do it without an ounce of pride

For when you die, you’ll leave it all aside.

When you lay in silence at night

and there’s nobody about to comfort you

When you understand a man’s plight

You will shed a tear or two

And when the next day, you’re up and about

Carry on you must without a shadow of a doubt.

When you think you’ve had it all

You’ll realize it’s only the beginning

When you’ve overcome your fear and fall

You’ll face the sham of meaning

And if you still strive to do what must be done

You’ve earned the prestige of men.

Mind Travel by Nirupa Iyer

A contrasting glimpse into the minds and struggles of two different people on the same road journey but different journeys in life.

Babloo:

Bright sunny day, Long windy way

Babloo in his cab driving Sahib far away

Eyes on the clock, hands on the wheel,

Must drive fast, for Sahib and his deal

“Take me in an hour, I’ll double the fare”

Sahib's words left no choice to spare

Mounting money needs and no place to hide

Finally woke up today on the right side

Racing through the crowds, cutting through the pack,

Caught a glimpse of Sahib seated at the back

How blessed is he to have this life

Educated, wealthy, and wise

His heart sees dreams, his desires not lost in screams

When the wallet has riches, is there anything he misses

Oh wonder how that feels, living a day sans worries

No panic of paying bills, no pressure of family needs

Buying all things that the heart bids

A confident smile with an impeccable style

Commanding respect from afar a mile

Fun banter with pals over imported whiskey in a mall

Summoning people by his side at the tip of a call

What love he might receive from his kith and kin

Cause he never has to nay and can agree to their whims

Grand holidays, luxurious stays, and gifts he always pays

Money indeed buys happiness as my experience says

The Rolex on his strong wrist glistening in the rays

Would it change my time if I had it one of these days

Alas, my time has lapsed I must accept

Pray my son has it in his good fate

Letting out a sigh of despair and hope

Fighting the bleak present with mope

Glanced at the mirror, locking eyes with Sahib

His mind and thoughts I could never comprehend

But our exchanged smiles bridged our worlds for a moment

Sahib:

Sahib had his executive role to play

On this bright sunny day, long windy way

Miles to cover, anxious to the heel

Must reach fast and win that deal

Doubled the fare, only time is worth a care

A few extra notes too easy to spare

Too many risks at the table await

Money fame and pride are all at stake

Slow traffic and busy folks all through the track

Trusting Babloo with time, seated at his back

A moment of jealousy for his elementary life

All about food, clothes, and shelter with little strife

Simple are his dreams, and his desires it seems

when the heart is so clear, is there anything he misses

oh wonder how that feels, living a day sans worries

no panic about losing face, no pressure of winning the race

Cruising through challenges with dignity and grace

A genuine smile and an innocent gaze

Touching people's lives with empathy and praise

Fun banter with pals sharing everyday rants

Embracing love and support from all ranks

What love he might share with his near and dear

Cause he has time to spare with no qualms or fear

Caring family and concerned friends with all foes at bay

Indeed real happiness that money can never pay

The idol on his dashboard glistened in the rays

Would it bring me peace if I had it one of these days

Alas, the problems are too many I must accept

Pray I can borrow his calm and content

Jostled by his loud sigh, wondered if he read my mind

Hidden beneath layers, only stress and anxiety to find

Locked eyes with Babloo, brief and quick

His shy gaze revealed nothing much to comment

But our exchanged smiles bridged our worlds for a moment
