Love that doesn't include honesty doesn't deserve to be called love.- Alex Michaelides

The Silent Patient – Alex Michaelides

This isn’t the formal review just while reading this quote speak to me and I couldn’t help the urge to write down my thoughts.

How true it is that you can’t claim about your love when you are being deceitful. And not just towards someone else, you could never love yourself until you start to accept the truth. Accept the things that are hard, disheartening and things you keep avoiding.

You know how we lie to ourselves that we don’t care about something just so it wouldn’t hurt if we lose it. The lie we say about starting afresh when the past still lingers.

It could be anything. You could be lying to yourself, your parents or your partner. You may convince yourself, this is for the best. You might argue that they would only be hurt by the truth but reality is you are just afraid of accepting things. You don’t want a change, you are afraid of confrontation or maybe you are just confused.

And this is like the hardest step to take, and yes, there will always be the possibility of everything going wrong but there is no love without honesty. One need to have the struggle, the hardships, the fear before one get their love.

So, if you are reading this take the first step. And be honest and be in love.
