The Blue Umbrella By Ruskin bond

When I pick this book for my next read in book club, my intention was clear. An established author, a short book and good reviews.

Even people who are new to reading should be able to finish this book and we will all get to know a good story to discuss. What I haven’t been expecting was to taken by surprise by the innocence and purity in this book.

I haven’t read any Ruskin Bond book before so yeah the words I have heard for him now seem completely sane and justified. He deserves the praises.

A simple and sweet story of a small girl who bargain her lucky pendant for an umbrella and the events that take place after she gets it.

The compassion shown by the little girl and the greed express by adults it displays how your age doesn’t make you wiser. The underlying biased behaviour of people who look down upon someone was significant.

It was nothing too dramatic but every event and dialogue is realistic and if you remember long enough you will realise you have seen such instances and maybe unconsciously did them as well.

It was a worth read for anyone who like to read and even for people who doesn’t like to read, this is such a short book that you can complete it in an hour or so.
